Why Groom?
Regular grooming helps keep your pet looking and feeling good. Every time your pet is brushed, loose hair and debris are removed from the coat, leaving it cleaner and healthier. Brushing also reduces the risk of matting. Aside from being unattractive, a matted coat limits the skin’s exposure to air, making your pet more prone to skin infections. It is also important to dematt a pet before bathing — once a matt gets wet, it will become tighter and harder to remove.
Introduce your pet to the idea of grooming early in life usually after their last set of vaccinations. Puppies will quickly become acclimated to a grooming routine. However, it’s never too late to start a grooming program, even if your pet is a senior citizen.

THE GROOMING DO's & DON'Ts!
|
DO.....
- Bring your dog in on a regular basis
- Have your dog's nails trimmed at least every 6 weeks
- Communicate your wishes clearly to your groomer to avoid misunderstandings
- Inform your groomer of any medical conditions your dog may have
- Make sure your dog relieves himself prior to his grooming appointment
|
| Don't..... |
- Bathe your dog between grooming unless you are sure all the tangles are brushed out first
- Use human shampoo or detergents on your dog
- Expect your groomer to be able to leave much hair on a dog that comes in matted, if you can feel 1 or 2 mats there are usually many more
- Forget to inform your groomer of any sensitive areas that your dog may have
- Forget to brush your dog between professional groomings
- Forget to rinse your dog after a romp on the beach, you must also dry and brush long haired dogs to avoid mats
